Slovenia’s landscape is exceptionally diverse. In the Alpine region, for example, you can enjoy views of wonderful Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj and the peaks of the Julian Alps and the Kamnik-Savinja Alps and a wide range of outdoor activities in the resort towns of Kranjska gora or Maribor.

Triglav, Slovenia’s highest mountain, lies at the heart of the Triglav National Park, an area of high, rocky mountains and deep river gorges, karst chasms and sunny Alpine pastures which offers protection to many endemic animal and plant species and the traditions of the former way of life of rugged mountain-dwellers and Alpine dairy farmers.

Skiing resort Kranjska gora

The resort is situated in 65 km from Ljubljana, 6.5 km from Italy, 12 km from Tarvisio (Italy), 6 km from the Austrian border.

The small summer & winter tourist centre is situated in the north-west of Slovenia, not far from the border with Austria and Italy. The resort itself is hidden in the valley between the Julian Alps and the Karavankas. This resort is one of the most get-together places, and it is a perfect place for young people and families as well as for the guests who wish to enjoy nature in calm surroundings. This is an ideal place for beginner skiers and parents with children. There is a lot of entertainment for people of all ages. You can find billiards, a night club, a disco and a casino there.

Skiing season: December to March.

Skiing resort Maribor

It is the most popular and the largest mountain skiing center in Slovenia. It is situated in 6 km from Maribor and 141 km from Ljubljana.

The total length of ski runs is 69 km. In the same place you can find Maribor Thermal Center where you can have rest and improve your health with thermal springs. The center’s being close to the city of Maribor – Slovenia’s second largest population center with ancient monuments of architecture provides additional opportunities for active recreation and culture programs. Every year Maribor hosts the skiing competition “Golden Fox” for the World Cup.

Skiing season: December to April.

Lake Bled

Bled is a climatic and balneological resort. The Julian Apls and Karavanke mountain range protect the resort from cold northern winds. The beauty of the mountains is reflected in a lake situated at 501 m above sea level. Lake Bled which is 2 km long, 1 km wide and 31 m deep is created by Bohinj glacier and supplied with water from warm springs, reaching the temperature of 24 °С in summer.

In summer Bled becomes the center of recreation both for fans of active rest and for those loving beauty, nature and silence. Everyone can find an activity to their liking here. There are several points of mountain bike rent at the resort.

In winter the place becomes one of the most popular ski resorts in Slovenia. There is a ski run called Straza in Bled, but ski fans often buy a ski pass and use skiing facilities in all neighboring resorts as well. Nearby there are also many runs for ski racing. All points of ski rent are situated at the resort or at the ski runs. Ski buses are arranged for those willing to visit neighboring ski centers.

Lake Bohinj

Bohinj is one of the most beautiful places in the heart of the Julian Alps and in Triglav National Park. The natural beauty of high mountains, green forests, and beautiful mountain pastures and meadows, the cultural and historical monuments, and the friendly villages and towns with their hotels, restaurants and inns guarantee visitors a pleasant stay in Bohinj.

Bohinj is an ideal starting point for day trips, for walks on the trails that run throughout the valley, and for mountaineering and climbing tours and offers ideal options and opportunities for rest and relaxation in all seasons. In winter the valley becomes a winter sports center, while during the summer the most beautiful pearl of the valley, Lake Bohinj, invites bathers, and with the Sava Bohinjka River, kayakers and fishermen as well.
